32 Teams in 32 Days — Day 32: Team Gim

We’re profiling 32 teams — one per day — for the start of the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling season with the Masters.

Day 32: Team Gim

Lineup: Un-Chi Gim (skip), Ye-Ji Seol (third), Su-Ji Kim (second), Ye-Eun Seol (lead), Yu-Bin Park (alternate)

Hometown: Uijeongbu, South Korea

Gim is a two-time Pacific-Asia champion. She captured gold in 2010 while playing lead and in 2013 playing third for Ji-Sun Kim. Gim made her Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling debut at the 2013 Masters in Abbotsford, B.C., with Team Kim. They went 3-1 through pool play to qualify for the playoffs and were quarterfinalists losing 3-2 to Team Ott.

Gim also represented South Korea four times at the world championship and once at the Winter Olympic Games. She has skipped her own squad since 2016.

Ye-Eun Seol, who previously served as an alternate, joined at second in 2017. Su-Ji Kim came on board at lead the following year and switched front-end spots with Seol in 2019.

Ye-Ji Seol was added as an alternate in 2018 and took over at third in 2020.

Team Gim captured the Korean championship during the 2020-21 season, however, they did not get the opportunity to represent South Korea at the world championship as the event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Team Gim finished runners-up to Eun-Jung Kim’s team at nationals last season.

The Masters kicks off the 2021-22 Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling season and is now underway running through to Sunday at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex in Oakville, Ontario. For tickets, CLICK HERE.
