32 Teams in 32 Days — Day 9: Team Jones

We’re profiling 32 teams — one per day — as we get ready for the start of the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling season at the Masters.

Day 9: Team Jones

Lineup: Jennifer Jones (skip), Kaitlyn Lawes (third), Jocelyn Peterman (second), Dawn McEwen (lead), Lisa Weagle (alternate)

Coach: Viktor Kjell

Home club: St. Vital Curling Club; Winnipeg

Jones has won an Olympic gold medal, two world championships, six Scotties Tournament of Hearts titles and nine Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling women’s titles, i.e. pretty much everything in the sport.

Weagle, who joined Team Jones last season, captured 10 Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling women’s titles with Team Homan including three Masters championships within a four-year span (2012, 2013 and 2015).

Team Jones claimed the 2017 Masters in Lloydminster, Sask., defeating Team Einarson in the final. It was the first of back-to-back Grand Slam wins as Team Jones followed it up with a title victory over Team Scheidegger at the 2017 BOOST National in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. Jones posted perfect 7-0 records in both events.

The Masters kicks off the 2021-22 Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling season and runs Oct. 19-24 at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex in Oakville, Ontario. Tickets are now available, CLICK HERE to purchase yours today.
