32 Teams in 32 Days — Day 8: Team Gushue

We’re profiling 32 teams — one per day — as we get ready for the start of the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling season at the Masters.

Day 8: Team Gushue

Lineup: Brad Gushue (skip), Mark Nichols (third), Brett Gallant (second), Geoff Walker (lead)

Home club: RE/MAX Centre, St. John’s Curling Club; St. John’s, N.L.

Gushue has captured 11 Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling men’s titles. His team made history after claiming the 2018 Humpty’s Champions Cup at Calgary’s WinSport Arena by becoming the first foursome to win each event in the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling at least once since the series expanded to six events.

Team Gushue won the Brier three times in four years taking the tankard in 2017, 2018 and 2020. As Team Canada, they claimed gold at the 2017 world championship and silver in 2018. Gushue and Nichols also won gold for Canada at the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Turin, Italy.

Gushue has qualified for the playoffs in 15 consecutive Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling events dating back to 2018. The team reached the semifinals in the Humpty’s Champions Cup and finished runners-up to Team Mouat in the Princess Auto Players’ Championship last season.

The Masters kicks off the 2021-22 Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling season and runs Oct. 19-24 at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex in Oakville, Ontario. Tickets are now available, CLICK HERE to purchase yours today.
