We’re profiling 30 teams — one per day — leading up to the start of the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling season at the Masters.

Day 4: Team Epping

Lineup: John Epping (skip), Ryan Fry (third), Mat Camm (second), Brent Laing (lead)

Home club: Leaside Curling Club; Toronto

Epping has won all four major titles in the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling including three as a skip. His first came while playing second for Wayne Middaugh at the 2008 National.

Team Epping captured the 2018 Masters men’s title in Truro, Nova Scotia, defeating Team Koe 7-4 in the final.

Camm joined Team Epping at third in 2015 and shifted over to second in 2019 after Fry’s arrival. Fry has won the 2014 Olympic gold medal, 2013 world championship silver medal, 2013 Brier championship and five Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling titles. Laing is one of the most decorated front-end players of all time with three world championship gold medals, three Brier championships and 16 Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling titles.
