We’re profiling 32 teams — one per day — as we get ready for the start of the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling season at the Masters.
Day 26: Team Wranå
Lineup: Isabella Wranå (skip), Almida de Val (third), Jennie Wahlin (second), Maria Larsson (lead)
Hometown: Stockholm, Sweden
Wranå is a two-time medallist at the world junior championships claiming gold in 2017 and silver in 2018. The team’s gold-medal victory earned them a spot in the 2017 Champions Cup in Calgary where they made their Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling debut.
Wranå has also won a pair of medals at the Winter Universiade taking gold in 2019 and bronze in 2017. She is the younger sister of Team Edin second Rasmus Wranå.
De Val will represent Sweden at the upcoming 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing in mixed doubles with Oskar Eriksson from Team Edin.
Wahlin has served as the alternate for compatriots Team Hasselborg and captured Olympic gold with them for Sweden at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Games.
Team Wranå won the Swedish women’s curling championship in 2018.
Former alternate Larsson joined the team this season after lead Fanny Sjöberg decided to step back from competitive curling.
