Muirhead to sub for Hasselborg at Champions Cup

Eve Muirhead will fill in for Anna Hasselborg at the Humpty’s Champions Cup next month in Saskatoon.

Hasselborg is going to miss the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling season finale as she is set to represent Sweden at the world mixed doubles championship running the same week.

Muirhead has earned four titles in the series. She made history as the youngest skip to win a Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling event when she claimed the 2013 Players’ Championship at 22 years of age.

Team Hasselborg captured their first Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling title at the season-opening Princess Auto Elite 10 in September and clinched their second a month later at the Canadian Beef Masters.

Hasselborg will team with Oskar Eriksson, who throws third stones for Niklas Edin’s club, at the world mixed doubles championship. Edin has yet to name a replacement for Eriksson at the Humpty’s Champions Cup.

The Humpty’s Champions Cup is set to take place April 23-28 at Merlis Belsher Place with 15 of the top men’s teams and 15 of the top women’s teams from around the world who won high-profile events in order to qualify.
