Team Bio

Brendan Bottcher had a prolific junior career capturing the Canadian junior and world junior titles in 2012.

Along with Mick Lizmore, Bradley Thiessen, and Karrick Martin, Bottcher skipped the University of Alberta Golden Bears to the 2012 Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) championship. The team also represented Canada at the 2013 Winter Universiade and Bottcher was the nation’s flag bearer for the opening ceremonies in Trentino, Italy. Although Bottcher lost to Great Britain’s Kyle Smith in the semifinals, he defeated Norway’s Markus Høiberg 6-5 in an extra end during the bronze-medal match to finish on the podium.

Darren Moulding joined the club at third midway through 2016-17. Bottcher captured his first provincial title that season topping Ted Appelman 6-5 in the final.

Martin is the son of curling legend Kevin Martin, the 2010 Olympic gold medallist and winner of a record 18 Grand Slam titles.

Team Bottcher had a spectacular 2018-19 Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling season. Although they only competed in four of the seven events, they played in all four finals winning three championships. Bottcher captured his first Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling title at the Meridian Canadian Open in January 2019 finishing with an undefeated 6-0 record. The team made it back-to-back winning the Players’ Championship and closed out the season claiming their third in a row at the Humpty’s Champions Cup.
