Princess Auto Elite 10 to open GSOC season in Chatham-Kent

The Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling will kick off its 2018-19 season in Chatham-Kent, Ont.

Starting off the new campaign for the Olympic cycle is the Princess Auto Elite 10 running Sept. 26-30 at St. Clair Campus Arena.

Previously a men’s invitational, the 2018-19 edition will include a women’s division for the first time.

As the first Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling tournament of the new quadrennial, it’ll be the first look for plenty of new teams that have formed with their eyes set on competing in the 2022 Winter Olympics.

The Princess Auto Elite 10 began in 2015 and was the first new Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling tournament since the series formed. It features a unique match play format where teams compete to win the most ends per game.

Team McEwen captured the Princess Auto Elite 10 title this past season in their hometown of Winnipeg. McEwen, who also won the inaugural title in 2015, defeated Team Gushue in the final.

Winners of the Princess Auto Elite 10 will qualify for the season finale Humpty’s Champions Cup taking place April 23-28, 2019, at Saskatoon’s Merlis Belsher Place.
