TCA Challenge: Annandale, Dixie, Leaside grab early leads
UPDATE: Sportsnet and the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling have cancelled the 2020 Princess Auto Players’ Championship.
You steady your Goldline shoe in the hack preparing to throw your first rock during your curling club championship but this isn’t your curling club. You’re in the heart of downtown Toronto at Ryerson’s Mattamy Athletic Centre — the historic home formerly known as Maple Leaf Gardens — under the bright lights and on arena ice of the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling. The stands are packed with your family and friends plus fans from your curling club cheering you on.
This is where the stars of the game like Brad Gushue, Rachel Homan, Jennifer Jones and Kevin Koe shine. You could be next thanks to the TCA Challenge presented by Princess Auto.
Twenty-four Toronto Curling Association clubs have been placed into five groups based on membership size. Each club has been provided with a unique code for members to use when purchasing Princess Auto Players’ Championship tickets. The club that generates the most sales in their group as of Monday, March 30, will have the opportunity to play one of their league finals during the Princess Auto Players’ Championship on Friday, April 10, at 10:30 p.m.
The race is now underway and while Groups A and B remain locked in ties out of the gate, Annandale (Group C), Dixie (Group D) and Leaside (Group E) have jumped out to early leads in their divisions.
Just a little over three weeks remain in the TCA Challenge as the chase will now heat up. Be sure you use your club’s code when purchasing tickets to the Princess Auto Players’ Championship for your shot at curling under our Friday night lights.
The Princess Auto Players’ Championship runs April 7-12 at Ryerson’s Mattamy Athletic Centre featuring 12 of the top men’s teams and 12 of the top women’s teams from around the world. Purchase your tickets online by clicking here.
