Single draw tickets now available for Masters
The Masters is coming to Lloydminster, Sask., and single draw tickets are now available for the first major of the 2017-18 Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling season running Oct. 24-29 at Centennial Civic Centre.
Featuring 15 of the top men’s teams and 15 of the top women’s teams from around the world, it’s end-to-end exciting action for the second stop of the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling tour. Teams are selected based on the World Curling Tour’s Order of Merit with spots reserved for Tour Challenge Tier 2 winners Team Gunnlaugson and Team Einarson. Invitations are now in the mail, keep it here for a complete list of teams and schedule of matches in the near future.
The Masters is one of the original four events in the series and started as a men’s invitational during the inaugural 2001-02 season with a women’s division added in 2012.
Winners of the Masters earn berths to the season-ending Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling event, the Humpty’s Champions Cup, returning to WinSport Arena in Calgary from April 24-29. Also on the line are points towards the Bonus Cup, featuring a $75,000 grand prize awarded to the overall season champions following the conclusion of the Players’ Championship.
Last season’s Masters was held in Okotoks, Alta., and saw history made with first-time winners in both the men’s and women’s divisions. Team Edin became the first non-Canadian men’s crew to capture a Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling title after the Swedish squad stole to beat Team Jacobs in an extra end during the final. Meanwhile, Team Flaxey went on a miracle run stealing through the tiebreaker, quarterfinals and semifinal stages before capping it off with a convincing win over Team Homan to claim the women’s championship.
See the emotion and feel the energy live at the Centennial Civic Centre and join us in the Pinty’s pub and grill zone to experience the action like never before right at ice level (no extra admission required).
