Jones, Jacobs set to shine at Players’ Championship
Olympic gold medallist Jennifer Jones capped a dream season a year ago winning the Players’ Championship and her team is now set to defend its Grand Slam title.
Jones, who recently won the Scotties Tournament of Hearts, headlines the women’s division for the 2015 Players’ Championship running April 7-12 at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto. The field features the top rinks from around the world including reigning Masters champ Val Sweeting and Canadian Open winner Eve Muirhead.
Two-time Scotties champion Rachel Homan has confirmed her team for the season-ending Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling tournament.
The men’s side will also star the Sochi Olympic winners as Brad Jacobs and his rink are set for the Players’ Championship along with Mike McEwen, whose team is ranked No. 1 on the World Curling Tour’s order of merit.
Sochi bronze medallist Niklas Edin and four-time world champ Glenn Howard round out the men’s teams that have already accepted their invites.
