Matches set for 2025 AMJ Players’ Championship in Toronto
Games set, the match schedule was released Monday for the AMJ Players’ Championship in Toronto.
The fifth and final Grand Slam of Curling event of the season takes place April 8-13 at the Mattamy Athletic Centre.
Team Whyte kicks things off against Team Dropkin as skip Ross Whyte and his Scottish squad look to pick up where they left off in the series after capturing their first career Grand Slam men’s title at the WFG Masters in January.
Team Jacobs and Team Epping meet in the opening draw in all-Canadian clash.
Two women’s games are also on tap to begin the event with Team Fujisawa vs. Team Ha and Team Homan vs. Team Schwaller. Team Homan is seeking a record-extending 18th Grand Slam women’s title and a first at the AMJ Players’ Championship.
Reigning women’s champion Team Tirinzoni starts play in Draw 2 against Team Tabata while Team Gushue will get its men’s title defence rolling in Draw 3 against Team Dunstone.
The AMJ Players’ Championship features the top 12 men’s teams and top 12 women’s teams from around the world. Both divisions are split into two pools of six teams for round-robin play. The best six teams overall advance to the playoffs with the top two receiving byes to the semifinals.
Before the AMJ Players’ Championship gets underway, Team Homan and Team Mouat will clash in the first-ever Rio Mare Battle of the Sexes match on April 7.
