Kim holds off Homan at Players’ Championship
TORONTO — EunJung Kim of South Korea is on the board at the Players’ Championship after edging Ottawa’s Rachel Homan 6-5 Thursday.
Kim, who earned silver on home ice at the Pyeongchang Winter Games, now holds a 1-2 record while Homan, who represented Canada at the Olympics, dropped to 0-3 with two round-robin games to go each.
After a single to start, Kim extended her lead to 3-0 with back-to-back steals in two and three. Homan drew for two in the fourth, but Kim countered right back with a deuce in the fifth to re-establish the three-point gap.
The six-time Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling title winner Homan erased the deficit hitting for two in the sixth and stealing one in the seventh. Kim held the hammer coming home though and although her final shot didn’t go as planned, she still managed to knock out Homan’s rock to grab the winning point.
