Jennifer Jones captures third Players’ Championship in four years

GRANDE PRAIRIE, Alta. — Winnipeg’s Jennifer Jones captured her third career Players’ Championship title in four years after defeating Calgary’s Shannon Kleibrink 9-7 in Saturday’s final. 

Jones, third Cathy Overton-Clapham, second Jill Officer and lead Dawn Askin earned $25,000 for winning the tournament plus a $50,000 bonus for finishing first in the Capital One standings.

The two-time reigning Canadian champion Jones scored three points in the final frame to top the 2006 Olympic bronze medallist Kleibrink.

Jones won back-to-back Players’ Championship titles in 2006 and 2007.
