Jacobs defeats Epping to start run at WFG Masters
GUELPH, Ont. — Calgary’s Team Brad Jacobs earned a 5-3 victory over Team John Epping of Sudbury, Ont., during the first men’s draw of the WFG Masters on Tuesday at the Sleeman Centre.
Jacobs jumped out of the gate scoring a deuce in the opening end. After singles back and forth, Epping split the house in the fourth and made a tap for two points to tie it up.
The seven-time Grand Slam champion Jacobs was held to another single in the fifth but stole one in the seventh. Epping looked to make a runback double takeout, however, he was unable to eliminate both of Jacobs’s rocks.
In other games, Team Korey Dropkin of the United States downed Saskatoon’s Team Mike McEwen 8-3, Switzerland’s Team Marco Hösli thumped Sweden’s Team Niklas Edin 10-2 and Scotland’s Team Bruce Mouat beat Team Jordon McDonald of Winnipeg 4-2.
