Gim, Tirinzoni stay undefeated heading into HearingLife Tour Challenge playoffs
NIAGARA FALLS, Ont. — South Korea’s Team Eun-Ji Gim and Switzerland’s Team Silvana Tirinzoni are all tuned up for the HearingLife Tour Challenge playoffs.
Both teams will enter the women’s quarterfinals for the first Grand Slam of Curling event of the season with unblemished 4-0 records.
Gim wrapped up her round-robin schedule with a 6-2 win over Japan’s Team Satsuki Fujisawa and Tirinzoni downed Sweden’s Team Isabelle Wranå 8-1 during Draw 13 Friday morning at the Gale Centre.
While it’s all clear sailing for Gim and Tirinzoni, Fujisawa and Wranå were both eliminated from playoff contention with 1-3 records.
Team Tabitha Peterson of the United States also finished at 1-3 but ended on a high note with a 7-3 victory over Team Rebecca Morrison of Scotland. Morrison is still in the mix for now with a 2-2 record.
Canada’s Team Kaitlyn Lawes is also hanging around at 2-2 after holding off Norway’s Team Marianne Rørvik 8-6.
Lawes was a roll leading 6-0 after four ends until Rørvik rallied with a huge five count in the fifth. Things settled down after that with singles back and forth in six and seven. Lawes held the hammer coming home and tacked another point on the board in the eighth.
