2016 Masters coming to Okotoks

A new season of the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling will get underway in Okotoks, Alta.

The 2016-17 campaign kicks off with the Masters, Oct. 25-30 at the Pason Centennial Arena.

The Masters is the first of four majors in the series as one of the original events alongside the National, Canadian Open, and Players’ Championship.

Last year’s Masters event in Truro, N.S., saw Winnipeg’s Team McEwen claim their sixth Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling title together topping Team Cotter of Vernon, B.C., in the men’s final. Ottawa’s Team Homan is the defending women’s champion after winning her third Masters title in four years by defeating 2014 victor Team Sweeting of Edmonton.

Teams at the Masters also compete for bonus points in the chase for the Rogers Grand Slam Cup, awarded to the overall season champions.

Winners at the Masters qualify for the Humpty’s Champions Cup, the season-ending Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling event featuring all of the top champions of the year in one final showdown.
