WCT Roundup: Walker, Gunnlaugson win in Winnipeg
Team Laura Walker captured the Mother Club Fall Curling Classic women’s title after defeating Team Theresa Cannon 4-1 Sunday in Winnipeg.
Walker’s all-new Edmonton-based team — featuring third Kate Cameron, second Taylor McDonald and lead Nadine Scotland — ran the table with an unblemished 7-0 record.
Team Jason Gunnlaugson also capped the week undefeated at 7-0 on the men’s side. Gunnlaugson claimed his second tour title of the season beating Team Tanner Horgan 5-4.
The Winnipeg club of Gunnlaugson, third Alex Forrest, second Adam Casey and lead Connor Njegovan also took the Cargill Curling Training Centre Icebreaker event at the end of August. Former second Denni Neufeld filled in for Casey during the Mother Club Fall Curling Classic.

In Kitchener-Waterloo, Ont., Team Un-Chi Gim won the KW Fall Classic by edging Team Megan Balsdon 5-4 in an extra end.
Gim, from South Korea, posted a perfect 7-0 record.
Team Yusuke Morozmi was victorious on the men’s side scoring two points in the eighth end to clip Team Wayne Tuck 7-6. Morozumi, from Japan, dropped his first round-robin game before winning six straight en route to the title.

In Blaine, Minn., Team Nina Roth topped Team Cassie Potter 8-5 for the Beyer & Simonson U.S. Open of Curling women’s title.
Team Rich Ruohonen earned the men’s title following a 5-4 win over Team Korey Dropkin.
Roth, of McFarland, Wisc., went 6-0 through the tournament while Ruohonen, from Minneapolis, Minn., finished at 6-1.
