Lineups set for Peterson, Christensen teams
Tabitha Peterson will continue to call the shots next season.
USA Curling announced the rosters this week for two of its High Performance Program women’s teams skipped by Peterson and Cory Christensen.
Peterson moved up from third to skip during this past season when Nina Roth went on maternity leave and guided the team to the USA Curling national championship gold medal. The team also reached the semifinals of the KIOTI Tractor Tour Challenge and quarterfinals of the Meridian Canadian Open. Roth will now serve as vice skip with second Becca Hamilton, lead Tara Peterson and alternate Aileen Geving.
“With Aileen having her baby one season and Nina having hers the next, we’ve grown comfortable with trying new lineups and learning what is best for the team,” Peterson said in a release. “We’re really excited to be a fivesome again, and I’m looking forward to skipping after the success we found last season.”
“I’m extremely excited to get back on tour with the team,” Roth added. “We’ve had a lot of success in recent years and we are all fully committed to doing whatever it takes to get USA on the podium!”
Christensen’s lineup includes Vicky Persinger and twins Sarah and Taylor Anderson. The foursome played with skip Jamie Sinclair this past season and finished runner-up to Team Peterson at nationals. The move didn’t come as a surprise as Sinclair tweeted last month her teammates were moving on without her.
“I’m excited to team up with a group of such dedicated and hard-working girls,” Christensen said in a release. “We’re looking forward to a fun season of achieving our goals together.”
While Team Christensen’s roster is set, their playing positions are still to be determined. Cathy Overton-Clapham, who has won six Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling women’s titles, will also return as coach.
