Tyler Tardi to fill in on Team McEwen for 2 GSOC events
It’s be Team McEwen minus Mike McEwen for the two Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling events next month in the Calgary curling bubble.
The Winnipeg-based club announced Thursday on social media Tyler Tardi will sub at third and Reid Carruthers will move up to skip during the Humpty’s Champions Cup and Princess Auto Players’ Championship. McEwen is staying at home as his wife Dawn is expecting the couple’s second child.
Tardi, from Langley, B.C., competed in back-to-back Humpty’s Champions Cup events in 2018 and 2019 earning his spot as the world junior men’s champion.
Carruthers, who skipped the squad previously, captured the inaugural Humpty’s Champions Cup in 2016.
Team McEwen, with McEwen at the helm, competed as Wild Card One in the Brier earlier this month and finished with a 4-4 record.
The Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling returns with the Humpty’s Champions Cup, April 14-18, followed by the Princess Auto Players’ Championship, April 20-25. Both events will be played at Calgary’s WinSport Arena and closed to the general public. Watch live coverage on Sportsnet, stay tuned for the broadcast schedule.
