Team Jones staying together, aim for 2018 gold
Jennifer Jones’s team is sticking together for another four years with their eyes on defending their Olympic gold medals at the 2018 Pyeongchang Games.
The Winnipeg-based team made the announcement on their website Tuesday ahead of the season-ending Players’ Championship.
“We are excited to officially announce that our team is fully committed to staying together and working hard to get another chance to represent Canada at the Olympics,” Jones said on the website. “We truly enjoy playing together, and we share the same goals and commitment. And now that we’ve been to a Winter Olympics, the desire to get to another one will make us work even harder for the next four years.”
The foursome of Jones, third Kaitlyn Lawes, second Jill Officer and lead Dawn McEwen won the gold medal at the Sochi Winter Games in February and became the first women’s team to complete the Olympic tournament undefeated.
Jones is a four-time Players’ champion and won the event with her current lineup in 2011.
