We’re taking a look at the teams set to compete in the inaugural Syncrude Elite 10, the fourth stop on the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling series, highlighting a different rink each day leading up to the event. Today’s profile: Team Brad Gushue.

Brad Gushue reunited with 2006 Olympic championship teammate Mark Nichols this season and the results have been golden on tour. Team Gushue has captured both the Masters and Canadian Open Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling titles and also won the Perth Masters tournament in Scotland.

Nichols has won a total of four Pinty’s Grand Slam titles having also captured the National twice, once in 2010 with Gushue and again in 2013 with Team Jeff Stoughton.

Gushue has had a remarkable record over the past six Pinty’s Grand Slam events, reaching the final four times as well as making one other semifinal appearance.

Expect Gushue to be the fan favourite for the Syncrude Elite 10. His rink was far and away the people’s choice during last year’s Syncrude National in Fort McMurray where they reached the final.

Gushue won his 12th career Newfoundland and Labrador Tankard title in February and finished fourth at the Tim Hortons Brier.
