Scotties winner Carey claims Champions Cup spot

Chelsea Carey is the latest to book a spot in the season finale Humpty’s Champions Cup in Sherwood Park, Alta.

Carey and her Calgary-based crew of third Amy Nixon, second Jocelyn Peterman and lead Laine Peters qualified after winning the Scotties Tournament of Hearts defeating Krista McCarville of Thunder Bay, Ont., 7-6 in Sunday’s final.

The Humpty’s Champions Cup, the seventh event of the 2015-16 Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling season, features all of the top winners of the curling year in one final showdown and runs April 26 to May 1 at the Sherwood Park Arena Sports Centre.

McCarville and Scotties bronze medallist Jennifer Jones of Winnipeg will also be among the field at the Humpty’s Champions Cup as winners of World Curling Tour events.
