Overton-Clapham to spare with Team Tirinzoni at National

Team Silvana Tirinzoni will count on Cathy Overton-Clapham to work her “super spare” magic next week at the Boost National.

Overton-Clapham joins the Swiss squad for the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling event with third Manuela Siegrist out due to a knee injury.

The Winnipeg native Overton-Clapham has won four titles in the series including two as a spare. She helped Val Sweeting capture her first career Grand Slam at the Masters in 2014 and assisted Eve Muirhead with her successful title defence at the Players’ Championship this past season.

Overton-Clapham won the Players’ Championship three times while playing with Jennifer Jones. She has also earned one world championship and five Tournament of Hearts titles in her career.

Tirinzoni, the 2015 Tour Challenge winner, is currently ranked third on the World Curling Tour’s Order of Merit. The team of Tirinzoni, Siegrist, second Esther Neuenschwander and lead Marlene Albrecht is also eighth on the money list cashing in $28,378 so far this season with a tour victory in Ontario at the Stu Sells Oakville Tankard in September.

The Boost National begins Tuesday night at the Essar Centre in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. Team Tirinzoni’s first game is Wednesday morning (8:30 a.m. ET) against Team Einarson.
