Olds, Alberta to host 2020 Champions Cup

As announced this afternoon during Sportsnet’s coverage of the Players’ Championship, Olds, Alta., will host the 2020 Humpty’s Champions Cup next spring.

Rounding out the complete 2019-20 Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling season schedule, the Humpty’s Champions Cup will take place at the Olds Sportsplex, April 29 – May 3, 2020.

Travelling to Olds, Alta., for the community’s first Grand Slam event, the Humpty’s Champions Cup showcases the top 15 men’s and 15 women’s winners across the 2019-20 curling season in one final showdown. The exceptional talent pool, including the season’s Grand Slam champions, will compete in round-robin play for a combined $250,000 purse and the coveted Humpty’s Champions Cup title.

Team Jones second Jocelyn Peterman is already really excited about the event.

“I’m from Red Deer, which isn’t far, but my dad grew up in Olds and I have a ton of family there,” Peterman said. “I think he’ll be fairly heavily involved with the event.

“I haven’t played in a Slam close to home where a lot of my family has been able to come to, so I’m really looking forward to that.”
