No tick zone implemented for BOOST National
The Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling is giving the “no tick, free guard zone” another trial run during the BOOST National, Nov. 2-7, at Chestermere Recreation Centre in Chestermere, Alberta.
Under the rule — during the eighth and extra ends only — rocks touching the centre line in the free guard zone may not be moved by the opposing team until the sixth rock of the end.
The “no tick zone” has been tested at Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling events in the past including the 2019 and 2021 Humpty’s Champions Cup and the 2021 Masters to start this season.
The Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling has experimented with new concepts in the past such as thinking time and the five-rock free guard zone.
