Meet your Rock League team captains

Get ready for Rock League, the world’s first professional curling league, coming in April 2026.

This exciting new venture from The Curling Group will include six mixed-gendered global franchises featuring the top curlers from around the world.

Let’s meet the team captains and share their thoughts on what the creation of Rock League means to them.

Rachel Homan
Team Canada 1 Captain
Career Highlights:
• 3-time World women’s champion
• 5-time Scotties Tournament of Hearts champion
• 17-time Grand Slam of Curling champion

Homan on the rise of women’s professional sports:
“We’ve had quite a few women’s pro leagues come into play in Canada, which is so exciting. There’s much more opportunity for women in sport, and I feel like little girls’ dreams can be realized now. Pick your favourite sport and you can be the best there is and be able to showcase that in front of a live audience and feel the rush and energy of a crowd, playing your favourite sport that you have the most passion for. It’s exciting to see so much opportunity for the young girls that have big dreams.”

Brad Jacobs
Team Canada 2 Captain
Career Highlights:
• Olympic gold medallist
• 2-time Brier champion
• 7-time Grand Slam of Curling champion

Jacobs on becoming a pro curler:
“Curling at a professional level is something that we all dream about when we’re kids and no longer am I a kid. I’m definitely on the back half of my career and that’s being polite about it. I’ve got a few good years left in me though and to be a part of curling at a professional level is a dream come true.”

Chinami Yoshida
Team Asia-Pacific Captain
Career Highlights:
• Olympic silver medallist
• Olympic bronze medallist
• Canadian Open champion

Yoshida on the popularity of curling in Asia:
“The most watched sport in the Winter Olympics in Japan is not the Closing Ceremony, ice hockey or alpine skiing, it is curling. Asian people love to watch curling. That’s why I’m so excited about being a captain.”

Korey Dropkin
Team United States Captain
Career Highlights:
• World mixed doubles champion
• 2-time U.S. men’s champion
• 2-time Tour Challenge Tier 2 champion

Dropkin on being named captain:
“Something I’ve dreamed about is having the flag on my back. Just being a part of representing the U.S. in a world or Olympic form. Obviously, in this curling league, having the honour is super humbling and it’s an honour to be the captain of the U.S. franchise.”

Bruce Mouat
Team Europe 1 Captain
Career Highlights:
• Olympic silver medallist
• 2-time World men’s champion
• 10-time Grand Slam of Curling champion

Mouat on Rock League:
“I never really thought of what’s the potential of being a full-time curler, like what’s that actually look like? Are there ways that the sport can grow into being something bigger? As soon as we found out about this pro league, I was like, well, this is it. This is the thing that is going to make our sport blossom and more exciting for spectators, having people play together that are not necessarily meant to play together. I think the whole idea of it is something that’s very spectacular, and I’m so excited to be able to captain the team.”

Alina Paetz
Team Europe 2 Captain
Career Highlights:
• 6-time World women’s champion
• World mixed doubles champion
• 4-time Grand Slam of Curling champion

Paetz on changing the perception of curling:
“I’ve played curling for so long, curling is my life, and I think we never got enough attention as curlers. I think curling is a great sport, I think we have so many great athletes, but if you talk to the people outside, they just think curling is kind of a little bit of a boring sport and like only old people play it, and that’s just not what it is. I think it’s just such a great chance to show what curling actually is and to have something like a pro league will take it to the next step.”
