McCarville, of Thunder Bay, represented Northern Ontario at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts last season and finished runner-up to Calgary’s Chelsea Carey. Team McCarville also features third Kendra Lilly, second Ashley Sippala and lead Sarah Potts.
The 18-year-old Horgan, of Sudbury, and his team will make their Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling series debut.
Horgan earned silver at last season’s Canadian junior men’s curling championship and has balanced his year playing both junior and men’s competitions. Horgan’s team includes his 16-year-old brother Jake Horgan at third plus second Nicholas Bissonnette and lead Maxime Blais. The Horgan brothers are the younger siblings of Tracy Fleury and Jenn Wylie of Team Fleury.
Winners of the 2016 Boost National will also qualify for the season-ending Humpty’s Champions Cup, running April 25-30, 2017, in Calgary. Allison Flaxey of Caledon, Ont., and Sweden’s Niklas Edin booked their spots by winning the season-opening WFG Masters and join the defending champs Jennifer Jones and Reid Carruthers, both of Winnipeg.
Teams also earn points towards the Rogers Grand Slam Cup, awarded to the season champions following the conclusion of the 2017 WestJet Players’ Championship.
