Walker spares for Flaxey at Humpty’s Champions Cup
Edmonton’s Laura Walker will get a head start with a couple of her teammates for next season.
Walker is going to sub for skip Allison Flaxey at the Humpty’s Champions Cup later this month in Saskatoon.
It’ll be the Winnipeg-based Team Flaxey’s final event together as they have already made plans to head in separate directions. Both third Kate Cameron and second Taylor McDonald are joining Walker’s new squad for next season while lead Raunora Westcott has linked up with skip Theresa Cannon.
Meanwhile, Flaxey will compete in Ontario once again reuniting with Clancy Grandy and Morgan Lavell. Their lineup will have a different look as 2018 world junior champion Kaitlyn Jones is set to skip the squad. Flaxey shifts to third, Grandy moves over to second while Lavell remains at lead.
Coincidentally, Team Flaxey’s first game of the Humpty’s Champions Cup is scheduled against another club with a substitute skip. Eve Muirhead will fill in for Anna Hasselborg, who is going to be away at the world mixed doubles championship that week.
The Humpty’s Champions Cup runs April 24-28 at Merlis Belsher Place.
