Kevin Martin appointed to Order of Canada
Curling legend Kevin Martin will receive one of the top honours in Canada.
Martin was among 88 appointees named to the Order of Canada on Wednesday.
One of the greatest curlers of all time, Martin skipped Canada to the gold medal on home ice at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. He also captured a world championship, four Brier titles plus a record 18 Grand Slam of Curling men’s titles during his illustrious career.
Martin was also instrumental in establishing the Grand Slam of Curling series.
After retiring in 2014, the Edmonton native moved into the broadcast booth as a colour commentator for Sportsnet’s curling coverage and served as an ambassador for the Grand Slam of Curling. Martin also runs a youth curling academy to help the next generation of stars in the sport.
