Humpty’s Champions Cup coming back to Calgary
The Humpty’s Champions Cup is returning to Calgary.
The season-ending Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling event will be held at WinSport Arena at Canada Olympic Park for the second consecutive year and takes place April 24-29, 2018.
It’s a clash of the champions to close out the 2017-18 campaign featuring 15 men’s teams and 15 women’s teams who must win a high-profile tournament over the course of the season in order to qualify.
Ottawa’s Rachel Homan capped her incredible year edging Anna Hasselborg of Sweden to win the Humpty’s Champions Cup women’s title this past season. Meanwhile, Brad Jacobs of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., earned his second Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling title of the season defeating Calgary’s Kevin Koe in the men’s final.
Both of them will get the chance to defend their titles and Team Jacobs second E.J. Harnden is already looking forward to the opportunity.
“Any time you know you’re automatically going to be in a Grand Slam event so far in advance is a nice reassuring feeling,” Harnden said following his team’s victory. “We’re extremely excited to be able to come back wherever it is. We just love playing in the Grand Slam. We know how much it’s done for the sport of curling, we appreciate it and any time we get to play in one we definitely want to be there.”
Ticket info will be announced at a future date. Keep it here at thegrandslamofcurling.com for updates.
