CONCEPTION BAY SOUTH, N.L. — Team Tracy Fleury is on the board at the Boost National and still in the race for the playoffs.

The East St. Paul, Man., club scored a single in the eighth end to edge Japan’s Team Satsuki Fujisawa 6-5 during Thursday’s morning round-robin draw at CBS Arena.

Team Fleury improved to a 1-2 record after dropping both of their games Wednesday to Team Sayaka Yoshimura and Team Jamie Sinclair with one round-robin game remaining against defending champions Team Jennifer Jones on Friday.

Fujisawa, the 2018 Olympic bronze medallist, now holds a 2-1 record in the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling event.

Meanwhile, Jones (1-1) also picked up her first victory over the tournament defeating Yoshimura 6-3.

Winnipeg’s Team Kerri Einarson of Gimli, Man., Sweden’s Team Anna Hasselborg and Switzerland’s Team Silvana Tirinzoni all climbed to 2-0 records.

Einarson topped Team Casey Scheidegger 9-4, Hasselborg beat compatriot Isabella Wrana 4-2 and Tirinzoni took down Calgary’s Team Chelsea Carey 7-2. Scheidegger fell to a 0-2 record while Carey is at 1-2 and Wrana dropped to 0-3.

The Boost National is the fourth event and second major of the 2018-19 Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling season featuring 15 of the top men’s teams and 15 of the top women’s teams from around the world.

Both divisions are split into three pools for round-robin play with the top eight teams overall qualifying for Saturday’s quarterfinals. The semis are also set for Saturday with both finals taking place Sunday.

Round-robin play continues at 12:30 p.m. local time (11 a.m. ET) with broadcast coverage on Sportsnet and streaming online at Sportsnet NOW (Canada) and Yare (international).

NOTES: Winners of the Boost National collect $30,000 of the $250,000 total purse plus berths to the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling season finale Humpty’s Champions Cup. … Points are also on the line for the Pinty’s Cup, which is awarded to the overall season champions following the conclusion of the Players’ Championship in April. … All games are played to eight ends with 33 minutes of thinking time plus two, 90-second timeouts. The five-rock rule is also in effect.
