Elite 10 Teams in 10 Days: Team Carruthers
Over the course of 10 days, we’re profiling all 10 teams set to compete in the Princess Auto Elite 10. Day 2: Team Carruthers.
Team Carruthers had a golden week capturing the Canada Cup in December to clinch a spot in the Canadian Olympic Curling Trials. Carruthers stayed red-hot into his next event — the Boost National in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. — winning six consecutive games to reach the final before cooling down against hometown hero Brad Jacobs.
The West St. Paul, Man., based club also helped Team North America defeat Team World at the Continental Cup in January.

Carruthers returns to Port Hawkesbury, N.S., where he capture his first career Grand Slam title with Jeff Stoughton’s team at the 2013 National. He earned his second — and first as a skip — last season at the inaugural Humpty’s Champions Cup defeating Team Epping in a double extra end. Carruthers also won Brier and world championships with Stoughton in 2011.
The Humpty’s Champions Cup was the first Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling title for Moskowy, Samagalski and Hodgson.
Team Carruthers formed in 2014 at the start of the Olympic cycle and captured the Manitoba provincial curling championship in their first season together. They finished runner-up to Team McEwen this year.
The Princess Auto Elite 10 runs March 16-19 at the Civic Centre in Port Hawkesbury, N.S.
