Draw schedules released for Tour Challenge
The Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling has now released the draw schedules for the Tour Challenge taking place Sept. 5-10 in Regina.
Featuring 60 of the top curling teams from around the world in two tiers of exciting action, the Tour Challenge is the largest event in the series and kicks off the 2017-18 Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling season.
Both reigning world champions will be in action on the opening day of the event. Men’s winner Brad Gushue will help open the Tour Challenge going up against four-time world champion Glenn Howard in Draw 1. Rachel Homan hits the ice in Draw 2 facing Jacqueline Harrison in a rematch of last season’s Ontario Scotties final.
Draw 3 on Sept. 6 features Val Sweeting, who will begin her quest to retain the Tour Challenge trophy versus Bingyu Wang. Niklas Edin looks to repeat on the men’s side and starts his title defence in Draw 4 against Pat Simmons and his new team based in Winnipeg.
Winners of the Tier 1 division qualify for the season-ending Humpty’s Champions Cup running April 24-29, 2018, at WinSport Arena in Calgary.
Tier 2 winners will move up the ranks and join the elite at our next event, the Masters, Oct. 24-29 in Lloydminster, Sask.
