David Murdoch retires from competitive curling
Two-time world champion David Murdoch is hanging up the broom.
Murdoch announced Monday he is retiring from competitive curling and joining British Curling as a coach.

The 39-year-old skip from Scotland competed at the world championship eight times winning six medals including gold in 2006 and 2009. He represented Great Britain at the Winter Olympics on three consecutive occasions earning silver in 2014. His crew was not chosen for the upcoming 2018 Winter Games taking place in Pyeongchang, South Korea, with Kyle Smith’s squad getting the call.
Murdoch made his Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling debut at the 2005 National in Port Hawkesbury, N.S. His best finish in the series was a semifinal result at the 2016 Players’ Championship in Toronto. Team Murdoch — featuring third Greg Drummond, second Scott Andrews and lead Michael Goodfellow — competed in three Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling tournaments this past season highlighted with a quarterfinal finish at the Masters in Okotoks, Alta.
He is also a two-time world junior champion and winner of three European Championship gold medals.
