Clancy Grandy joins British Curling coaching staff
British Curling announced Friday they have added former skip Clancy Grandy to their coaching staff for this season.
Grandy, who stepped back from competitive curling in June, will work alongside Ross Paterson with the program’s women’s teams.
“I have always had aspirations of moving into high performance coaching at some point in my career,” Grandy said in a release. “I believe that the timing has worked out perfectly being able to step into a performance coaching role with British Curling.
“As a competitive player, I admired the program that has been built through British Curling and the work ethic that all of the athletes display, therefore I was very excited and grateful for such an opportunity to start my coaching career within this organization.”
Grandy, from Burlington, Ont., spent the past two seasons in Vancouver skipping with third Kayla MacMillan, second Lindsay Dubue and lead Sarah Loken.
Team Grandy won back-to-back provincial championships to represent B.C. at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts and earned the Tier 2 women’s title at the 2022 HearingLife Tour Challenge.
MacMillan will now skip the team with Sarah Daniels joining at third.
Grandy captured the Grand Slam of Curling’s Masters women’s title in 2016 while throwing second stones for skip Allison Flaxey.
She also served as an assistant coach with the Netherlands Curling Association during her playing career and worked as the high performance development co-ordinator with Curl BC.
