24 teams in 24 days — Day 23: Team Jacobs
We’re profiling all 24 teams, one per day, to get ready for the return of the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling leading up to the start of the Humpty’s Champions Cup.
Day 23: Team Jacobs
Lineup: Brad Jacobs (skip), Marc Kennedy (third), E.J. Harnden (second), Ryan Harnden (lead)
Home club: Community First CC; Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.
Jacobs has won seven Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling men’s titles including the past three in the series at the 2019 KIOTI Tractor Tour Challenge, 2019 BOOST National and 2020 Meridian Canadian Open. Their superb season finishing first in the standings earned them the 2019-20 Pinty’s Cup.
Kennedy joined Team Jacobs last season after a brief hiatus from competitive curling. The 39-year-old from St. Albert, Alta., is one of the most decorated curlers in the game as a two-time Olympian with a Winter Games gold medal from 2010, two world championships, three Brier titles and 15 Grand Slams.
Jacobs captured the Brier and world silver medal in 2013 plus Olympic gold in 2014. His first Grand Slam title came at the 2015 Players’ Championship at Ryerson’s Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto.
Team Jacobs represented Northern Ontario in the Brier last month and finished in a tie for sixth place in the championship pool with a 7-5 record.
