Kevin Martin to be inducted into Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame
Curling legend Kevin Martin is heading to Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame.
Martin was announced Tuesday as a member of the 2025 class, who will be enshrined Oct. 29.
Christine Sinclair (soccer), Eric Guay (alpine skier), Michelle Stilwell (para athletics) and Darren Zack (softball) will also be inducted. Ted Nolan (hockey) and Martha Billes (sports administration) will join the builders category.
Martin is considered one of the greatest curlers of all time, capturing the 2010 Olympic gold medal, 2008 world championship, and four Brier titles as a skip.
He also earned silver medals for Canada at the 2002 Olympics and the 1991 and 2009 world championship tournaments.
Martin helped found the Grand Slam of Curling and holds the record for most titles won in the series with 18.
The Edmonton native stepped back from the sport in 2014 and went out on top, winning the Players’ Championship title one last time in Summerside, P.E.I.
Martin, who was named to the Order of Canada last December, also runs a summer curling academy to help the next generation of stars.
