Rachel Homan adds Sarah Wilkes at second stones

Sarah Wilkes is joining Rachel Homan’s team, the Ottawa-based club announced Tuesday.

Homan, third Emma Miskew and second-turned-lead Joanne Courtney had an opening on their front end after parting ways with longtime lead Lisa Weagle last week.

Wilkes, who was born in Toronto and lives in Edmonton, previously played third for Chelsea Carey and won the Scotties Tournament of Hearts last season.

“She is a terrific curler and we’re thrilled to have someone with her pedigree and drive join our team at second stones,” Team Homan said in a statement. “Please help us welcome [Wilkes] back to the strong Ontario curling family!”

Wilkes captured her first Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling women’s title while subbing at second on Team Homan during the 2017 Humpty’s Champions Cup while Courtney was away at the world mixed doubles championship.
