Jennifer Jones receives honourary doctorate from Nipissing University

Calling Doctor Jones: Legendary curling skip Jennifer Jones was presented with an honorary doctorate from Nipissing University on Tuesday in North Bay, Ontario.

The Gateway City holds a special place in the heart of Jones, who captured her second world championship at Memorial Gardens in 2018.

She also competed in two Grand Slam of Curling events held at the venue, reaching the quarterfinals both times.

On top of two world titles, Jones claimed an Olympic gold medal, six Scotties Tournament of Hearts titles and 10 Grand Slam of Curling championships during her illustrious career.

She became the first women’s skip to post a perfect record through the Olympic tournament during the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.

Jones stepped back from women’s curling last year but continued to play in mixed doubles with husband Brent Laing. She joined The Curling Group as a strategic advisor and became a member of Sportsnet’s broadcast team.
