Jennifer Jones adds Lisa Weagle as additional player

Lisa Weagle has landed with Jennifer Jones’s team as an additional player, the Winnipeg-based club announced Wednesday.

The team’s lineup will remain the same as Weagle joins skip Jones, third Kaitlyn Lawes, second Jocelyn Peterman, lead Dawn McEwen and coach Viktor Kjell.

“We’re working out the details of events and playing time but Lisa will be integrated into the team and lineup throughout the season,” the team said in a social media post. “Team Jones is constantly finding ways to improve and innovate. We know that Lisa’s experience as an all-star lead, three-time Scotties champion, world champion and Olympian will play a critical role to building an even stronger Team Jones.”

Weagle had spent the past decade throwing lead stones for Rachel Homan and won a record 10 Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling women’s titles. Team Homan parted ways with Weagle last week and the 34-year-old from Ottawa told the Canadian Press she “wasn’t part of the discussions and it was a decision that was taken by the team.”

Team Homan announced Tuesday they have added Sarah Wilkes, formerly of Chelsea Carey’s club, at second stones with Joanne Courtney moving to lead.
